Become a Practitioner - Training Offer

For anyone who works with individual clients/patients and/or groups with central nervous system disorders and who is seeking to supplement and enrich their professional practice beyond existing treatment methods, the RGM is a valuable addition. Consider fields such as healthcare (hospitals, rehabilitation centers, private practices) and (special) education (teachers, remedial teachers, educational assistants).

How it works

The RGM practitioner training consists of two modules, both lasting two days. Module 2 culminates in certification. After completing the course, participants will have sufficient tools to create a customized, varied program for all conceivable target groups. To become a certified RGM practitioner, it is necessary to complete both modules. Module 2 must be completed within one year of completing module 1.

There is a third module, which is reserved for practitioners with extensive experience with the RGM. Module 3 provides a more in-depth understanding of the method. Below, you will find a general description of the content of the three modules.

Module 1

The RGM practitioner training lasts a total of 4 days and is divided into two parts: Modules 1 and 2.

Module 1 is a comprehensive introduction (2 days). In this module:

  • participants are introduced to the basic principles and background of RGM and practice extensively with the introduced material.

  • attention is paid to neuroplasticity and recent scientific insights on this topic.

  • attention is paid to the effect of rhythm on the brain and recent scientific insights on this topic.

  • attention is paid to basic music analysis; which music is suitable for RGM and how to apply it.

After completing Module 1, participants are expected to develop basic RGM skills in preparation for Module 2 and also prepare and teach at least 8 lessons to a practice group. After completing Module 1, participants will receive a certificate of participation, which will qualify them to offer RGM professionally.

Module 2

To participate in Module 2, you must first complete Module 1.

During this follow-up session, also lasting two days, the following will be covered:

  • deepening and broadening the RGM, with new material presented for extensive practice.

  • the applicability of RGM for specific target groups such as Parkinson’s, stroke/ABI, MS, dementia, and children.

  • deepening practical music analysis; which music is suitable for RGM and how to apply it.

After successfully completing the follow-up session, participants will be certified as RGM practitioners and will receive a certificate. They are now authorized to offer RGM in a professional and responsible manner in both healthcare and (special) education.

Module 3

For those experienced in RGM and looking to take the final step in their development as an RGM practitioner, there is the option to take a third module. During this two-day course, we will cover:

  • the last 6 symbols/movements plus some variations on already familiar symbols

  • special, creative forms of exercises

  • deepening the theory

This module is the most challenging when it comes to coordination and motor skills. It is very useful for target groups such as children, healthy seniors, Parkinson’s, and MS. After successfully completing the course, participants will become master RGM practitioners.
